Instrumental Analysis XE begins by presenting the analyst's toolbox. The next chapter covers quantum mechanics and spectroscopy. Other topics include optics, instrumental electronics, signals and noise and signal processing, molecular ultraviolet and visible spectroscopy, and atomic absorption spectroscopy. The text then goes on to cover luminescence spectroscopy, atomic emission spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and raman spectroscopy. There are also chapters on mass spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and liquid chromatography. Next, there are chapters on gas chromatography and electrophoresis. Finally, the text looks at potentiometry and probes and statistical data analysis.
